The Services Selection Board (SSB) interview is the final and most important stage for candidates aspiring to join the Indian Armed Forces through NDA, CDS, or other entries. Unlike written exams, SSB is not about memorization—it is a complete personality assessment.

Every year, thousands of candidates clear the written exam, but only a few get recommended in SSB. The reason is simple—lack of understanding of the complete process and improper preparation.

At Best SSB Coaching India, candidates are trained through a structured approach covering all 5 days of the SSB interview to ensure maximum chances of selection.

Day 1 – Screening Test (Elimination Round)

The first day is the screening stage, where a large number of candidates are eliminated. It consists of two main tests:

  • OIR Test (Officer Intelligence Rating): This includes verbal and non-verbal reasoning questions to test logical ability.
  • PPDT (Picture Perception & Discussion Test): Candidates observe a picture, write a story, and then discuss it in a group.

This stage tests observation skills, communication, and clarity of thought. Only selected candidates move forward to the next stage.

Day 2 – Psychological Tests

This stage evaluates your subconscious mind and natural personality traits. It includes:

  • TAT (Thematic Apperception Test): Story writing based on images
  • WAT (Word Association Test): Writing responses to given words
  • SRT (Situation Reaction Test): Responding to real-life situations
  • Self Description Test: Writing about yourself

There are no right or wrong answers here. Your responses should be natural, clear, and positive. At Best SSB Coaching India, candidates practice these tests regularly to improve performance.

Day 3 & Day 4 – GTO Tasks (Group Testing Officer)

These two days are dedicated to group activities that test leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving ability.

  • Group Discussion (GD)
  • Group Planning Exercise (GPE)
  • Progressive Group Task (PGT)
  • Half Group Task (HGT)
  • Command Task
  • Individual Obstacles
  • Lecturette

Candidates are expected to actively participate, show leadership, and support their team. It is important to be confident but not dominating.

Personal Interview (Conducted Between Day 2 to Day 4)

The personal interview is conducted by the Interviewing Officer and focuses on your personal life, education, goals, and overall personality.

  • Questions about family, background, and interests
  • Situational and opinion-based questions
  • Assessment of confidence and communication

Honesty, clarity, and confidence are key to performing well in this round.

Day 5 – Conference (Final Decision)

The final day is the conference round, where all assessors discuss each candidate’s performance. You may be asked a few general questions.

After this, the final result is declared, and recommended candidates move forward in the selection process.

Why Most Candidates Fail in SSB?
  • Lack of understanding of SSB process
  • Poor communication skills
  • Lack of confidence and clarity
  • No practice for psychological tests
  • Weak performance in GTO tasks
